Our weekly Music Monday segment has always been about highlighting VGM that moves us, or makes us feel something in some way. Today, I’m feeling pretty sad, as tonight we’ll record our final episode and retire the podcast indefinitely.
So, what a better song (and better game) to end Music Monday on, than with “Stella’s Departure” from the excellent Spiritfarer soundtrack by Max LL. The game was one of my favorite games of 2020, and while it was a difficult game to play during the pandemic, I found it strangely soothing then, and it’s strangely soothing and appropriate now.
After all, the entire game is about learning to say goodbye.
It’s the first episode of the new year, and Will and Drew take a look back at all of the games they played in 2020 – new and old – and hand out some awards! What game gets the Willie and the Drewie for Game of the Year? How about Best Hairstyle? Best Music? Tune in to find out!
Will and Drew are letting loose this week and staying off script! Will gives an update on his playthrough of The Last Guardian, while Drew encourages him to play Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Plus, both chat a bit about Black Friday deals, attempt to figure out what makes a mug “classy,” and much much more!
Will and Drew are back again recording live on Twitch! They chat about Will’s initial thoughts on The Last Guardian, Drew’s impressions of River City Girls, plus some quick hits on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and a full review of Spiritfarer!
Spiritfarer has become one of my favorite games of 2020. It’s a relaxing and gentle game with some serious subject matter behind it. The music is moving and graceful in a way that feels appropriate. Whether you’re guiding Stella’s boat across the seas, or giving one final hug to your loved ones, Spiritfarer’s soundtrack will strike the perfect chords.
We’re getting down to the wire! Sony has a conference planned for their final PS5 reveal, while Xbox just threw those details out into the wild after a surprise leak. What does Will expect from the PS5 conference? What did Drew think of the Xbox Series S? And what will bring either to the other side for launch?
Will and Drew held a community game night and played Fall Guys for the first time. Was the game as fun as everyone talks about? Plus, the two have plans to run co-op in Portal 2, Will is eager for Black Myth: Wukong, Drew tried Touhou Luna Nights, and much more!
After months of prodding from the community, Will has broken down and played Sayonara Wild Hearts on the PS4. What did he think of the game? Will dives in deep. Plus, Will has been playing Child of Light. Drew chats about Spiritfarer, and gives an update on his experience with Papers, Please on the PS Vita.
Drew has beaten three games! Everyone rejoice! They’re short, but hey, they’re beaten! Drew talked about Carrion, Afterparty, and The Touryst in-depth, plus Will chats about his co-op experience with Dark Souls.
