#MusicMonday – “Maiden In Black” – Demon’s Souls Remake

#MusicMonday returns with this unsettling yet comforting track entitled “Maiden In Black”, from the masterful Demon’s Souls Remake. Back when I first played Demon’s Souls on the PS3, I fell in love with the gentle harp that plays as you gather your bearing in The Nexus. A place where you can feel safe, away from the Demon’s of Boletaria. A safe haven that glowed with ambient light emanating from it’s tranquil atmosphere. This version, which is more or less completely different than the original, makes you feel like you are in an ancient Italian church that is haunted by Gregorian angels.

Enjoy!

WDGR Podcast Episode 125: Will Has A PS5

Apple Podcasts | Google Podcasts | Spotify | Stitcher | Tune In | RSS

Everyone, rejoice! Will has finally been able to acquire a PS5! After spending the weekend enjoying it, he’s got a ton to say, including his first impressions, and some surprising thoughts about the pack-in game, Astro’s Playground.

Will and Drew also dive deep into the listener mailbag, and answer some amazing questions submitted through Discord.

But not all is well in the WDGR world, as constant technical issues plague their weekly livestream. Drew is a little distracted throughout, and as such some of the audio quality in the first half of the show suffers slightly.

WDGR Game Club For April 2021: Bioshock Infinite

The WDGR Game Club is back!

It’s like a book club but for games! Every month we will choose a game to play through as a community and discuss at pre-determined spots as a group. We will meet in Discord at the half-way point to chat about the game openly.

For the month of April, we will be playing Bioshock Infinite.

BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter video game developed by Irrational Games and published by 2K Games. It was released worldwide for the Microsoft WindowsPlayStation 3Xbox 360, and OS X platforms in 2013, and a Linux port was released in 2015. Infinite is the third installment in the BioShock series, and though it is not immediately part of the storyline of previous BioShock games, it features similar gameplay concepts and themes. Irrational Games and creative director Ken Levine based the game’s setting on historical events at the turn of the 20th century, such as the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, and based the story on the concept of American exceptionalism, while also incorporating influences from more recent events at the time such as the 2011 Occupy movement.

The game is set in the year 1912 and follows its protagonist, former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, who is sent to the airborne city of Columbia to find a young woman, Elizabeth, who has been held captive there for most of her life. Though Booker rescues Elizabeth, the two become involved with the city’s warring factions: the nativist and elite Founders that rule Columbia and strive to keep its privileges for White Americans, and the Vox Populi, underground rebels representing the underclass of the city. During this conflict, Booker learns that Elizabeth possesses strange powers to manipulate “Tears” in the space-time continuum that ravage Columbia, and soon discovers her to be central to the city’s dark secrets.

Bioshock Infinite is available on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One/Xbox Series (backwards compatible), and Nintendo Switch. It is also part of Bioshock: The Collection, which is also available on most current platforms. It has a How Long to Beat time of 11.5 hours for the main story. There are a total of 40 Chapters. At the end of the month we’ll be chatting about the game in Discord using Discord’s new stages!

We’ll be checking in and discussing the game on our Discord Channel throughout the month of April. We’d love to have you join us there, or on Twitter using the hashtag #WDGRGameClub!
