#MUSICMONDAY – Journey – “Threshold” – Austin Wintory

It’s that time again. Time for a #MusicMonday post. This week we are featuring “Threshold” from the Journey soundtrack, composed by Austin Wintory. Most know my love for this game, and like many others, this game and soundtrack touched my heart. Journey is such a unique experience to everyone that plays it and the soundtrack to the game compliments that personal endeavor so well. “Threshold” is just one of the many fine pieces in this game’s sweeping score. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

WDGRPodcast Episode 122: I Grew Up Playing Atari

Apple Podcasts | Google Podcasts | Spotify | Stitcher | Tune In | RSS

Sony has reversed their decision to close the PS3 and Vita digital stores this summer – a decision that many gamers are happy to hear. Sony has listened to the voices of their customers, and while they’re still closing the PSP store, this is a massive change from what we’ve seen from them in the past. Will and Drew break down the change – is this for the best?

Plus, the director of Days Gone was pretty outspoken about games being free or on sale – and how they effect sequels in the industry. Is he right?

All this, plus much more, including the announcement of our Patreon, launching in May!

The WDGR March Madness Final Four has come to a close, with Pokemon taking on Metal Gear Solid, and The Legend of Zelda facing off against Metroid. Who walks forward into the championship battle? Will and Drew tally up the votes and take a look.

Plus, Drew provides an update on his God of War experience. Has the game opened up for him yet? Is the combat clicking?

And, Will and Drew discuss the rumored confirmed closing of the PS3, PSP, and Vita stores. The duo is not pleased. Why is Sony doing this? And does this remind Will of Playstation Home’s sunset?

All this, plus talk about the Limited Run Classic Doom release, and much more!

Don’t forget, you can vote on the next March Madness round too! Head on over to our Twitter @WDGRPodcast, and hit up our voting thread. We’re in the finals, so make sure you vote count!

#musicMonday: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker – “Clients”

#MusicMonday returns with this stealthy piece from MGS PW. One of my favorite Metal Gear games. It packs so much mystery and intrigue that I find it hard to ignore. I remember when I was playing the game, this music would kick in when in codec conversations with Miller. When you hear it you feel like you’re obtaining top-secret classified intel and who wouldn’t want that sweat to bear? I hope you enjoy the suspenseful undertones of this tactical espionage track as much as I do.

#MusicMonday: Heavy Rain – Ethan Mars’ Theme

I never played Heavy Rain. Well, that’s not entirely true. I did play some of it, just not enough to truly experience the game properly. I often gravitate to video game soundtracks, first, before I even play a game. Most likely due to my love for music and scores. Heavy Rain’s soundtrack is no slouch in that respect. It’s moving and emotional. So much so that it can leave you breathless. Ethan Mars’ theme is enough to put you in an introspective mind set. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!
