It’s been a little while since I’ve written to you, but the COVID-19 situation has been fruitful for my gaming habits. While I’m fortunate enough to be working still, my forced quarantine has allowed me to fire up games more frequently than I have in a long while.

Hello, Backlog.

You’ve been continuing to grow while I’ve been continuing not playing you.

The past few weeks have been a little hectic, and I haven’t really done much gaming at all since I returned home from my trip to Orlando. That was nearly a month ago at this point. I’ve barely touched Octopath Traveler, or Doom (2016), or anything else.

It’s kind of shameful.

In lieu of an update on my (non) gaming habits, I’ll take a look at some of the new things happening in the world of gaming.

Forgive me, for I have been a terrible gamer.

As previously mentioned, I had a recent working trip to Florida, and I was considering bringing my Nintendo Switch with me, but i had fears of traveling with it.

I’ve been putting in a decent amount of work into Octopath Traveler, but this past week I’ve stalled out. I’ve had a lot of editing to do and when I have had time to game, I’ve been too tired to play. I admit, I do feel like I’ve taken a bit of a step backwards in my consistent progress. But I have a few days off, so I’m hoping to regroup and put some decent time back in.

It has been well over a month since we’ve last spoken. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season has been keeping me away from writing, but it hasn’t been keeping me away from gaming.

Rather than recap where I’ve been, however, I think it’s best to look forward. 2020 is going to be an exciting year for me for gaming and I have some goals.

My number one goal? It’s to take you down, Backlog.

It’s been a long while since I’ve written to you. Adulting is hard and game time has been limited. But, I’ve been sneaking in some time here and there.

It’s been a little while since I’ve written to you. I’ve been working a lot of hours, but I’m trying to sneak away some game time whenever possible.

I’ve been playing a few things lately, thanks to a combination of a few sales, previous purchases, and Xbox Game Pass.

Dear Backlog,

I just finished Untitled Goose Game for the Nintendo Switch.

Like literally, just now.

Is it silly to say I’m super proud of myself for finishing the game? It’s a short one – only a few hours – but with my track record, I feel like I deserve a pat on the back.

Untitled Goose Game is one of the most charming, fun, enchanting games I’ve played in years. I paid $15 USD for it on sale, but it’s worth the regular price of $20. I don’t think I’ve ever smiled more for being such a complete dick.
